A note to the reviewer

What I am asking you for

This is a manuscript sent out for review, not a finished book. The clinicians and researchers who mark it will be named in the edition that publishes.

Read the manuscript (PDF, 83 pages) No form. No email required.

What I have already done

Every claim was traced back to a primary source, and every source was checked at the journal for existence and year before the claim was graded. That catches invented citations and misremembered numbers. It caught several of mine, and each was fixed before this draft left my hands.

What that cannot catch, and why I am writing to you

A study read correctly and applied to the wrong question. The citation checks out, the number is right, and the conclusion is wrong anyway. I cannot find that from the inside, because the person who made the error is the person checking for it. It is the error that survives longest in a book like this, and it is what I am asking you to look for.

The ask, plainly

One or two hours, on the parts that carry the risk

  • You do not need to read all 83 pages. The table below is where I would rather you spent the time.
  • Send the page number, the sentence, and the source you think I got wrong.
  • Disagreement is the point. Where it is about evidence, the page changes and you are still listed.
  • There is no fee and nothing to sign.
Where the risk is

Where I would rather you spent the time

Look hereBecause
The medicine and condition pages, from page 68 Twenty-four cases where the book tells a reader that something needs adjusting, including intervals, thresholds and one instruction to stop a drug. A wrong line here does more damage than anywhere else in the book.
The warning signs, page 67 What is missing, and what should not be on it. I split it into same-day and book-an-appointment. Tell me if I have put anything in the wrong half.
The grades, page 8, and the source list from page 78 I assigned every tier myself. I am most interested in where you think I have been generous, and in any study I have read more confidently than it deserves.
Anywhere I call something convention Wherever a number is a working rule and not a trial result, the book says so on the page: the half-hour wind-down, the three-hour alcohol gap, the 80/20 easy-hard split, the two-day recovery gap, the annual panel, the magnesium dose and timing. Those are the lines I am least sure of. If a trial exists and I have missed it, that is the single most useful thing you can send.
Being named

What it will and will not mean

It is not an endorsement of every line. I expect disagreement, and where it is about evidence rather than emphasis, the page will change and you will still be listed.

If you would rather read it without being named, say so and I will leave you off.

I will not quote you anywhere, on this site or in the book, without sending you the exact words first and getting your agreement to them.

Who is asking

And the conflict you should know about

I am Chris Ngoi. I am not a doctor, which is why the method has to be the credential rather than the author.

I work in wellness, so I sell into the same space this book covers. I grade supplement categories on the evidence like everything else, and I grade most of them down, including the ones I work in. Support comes last in the book and is graded hardest. You should read the manuscript, and this request, knowing that.

How to send it

Page number, the sentence, and the source you think I got wrong, to review@sleepeatexercisebook.com.

Marginal notes on the PDF are just as welcome as a list. Anything is better than nothing, and a single corrected line is worth the email.
